What is a Giclée print?
A giclée is a high quality fine art print made with archival inks on premium paper or canvas. Unlike a standard poster or photocopy, a giclée captures the fine detail, colour, and depth of the original artwork, and it's made to last for decades without fading. It's the standard museums and galleries use to reproduce artwork, so you can enjoy a piece at a more accessible price while keeping the richness of the original.
What's the difference between a print on canvas and a print on fine art paper?
Both are giclée prints - the difference is the surface and the look you're after. Canvas has a textured, painterly feel that closely resembles an original painting. It arrives stretched and ready to hang, no frame needed, and makes a bold statement piece. Fine art paper has a smoother, more refined finish with crisp detail and colour, and ships unframed so you can choose a frame that suits your space. It comes down to preference: canvas for a warm, gallery-on-canvas look, or paper for a classic, framed presentation.
What's the difference between a limited edition and an open edition print?
Open edition prints are produced on an ongoing basis with no cap on the number available. They're printed on demand through my fulfillment partners and shipped directly to you - an accessible way to bring the work into your home.
Limited edition prints are a different thing entirely. Each one is printed on archival giclée stock at a fine-art print studio in Toronto, then hand-signed and numbered by me before it ships. Once the edition sells out, no more are made. If you're looking for something closer to an original - a piece with my hand on it and a fixed place in the series - this is it.
Are the prints signed?
The limited edition prints are signed!
Will the colours match what I see on my screen?
I do my best to make sure every image on my site is as true to the original as possible. That said, colours can look slightly different from one screen to another, since every phone, laptop, and monitor displays colour a little differently, and screens tend to appear brighter than a physical print. Because of this, the piece you receive may vary subtly from what you see on your display. I work with a trusted print partner who uses quality inks and materials to keep the colour, depth, and detail faithful to the original artwork. If you ever have a question about a specific colour before ordering, feel free to reach out, I'm always happy to help.

Can I cancel or change my order after placing it?
All sales are final. Because prints go into production quickly and each piece is prepared specifically for your order, I'm not able to cancel, change, or refund an order once it's placed. Please review your selection carefully before checking out - and if you have any questions before ordering, reach out and I'm happy to help.
About the Artist
Who is the artist?
Gretta Gibney was born in Dublin, Ireland and raised in Vancouver, B.C. She completed formal studies in Fine Art at the University of Concordia, Montreal (BFA) and at the University of Barcelona, Spain (DEA). She has studied Fresco painting at the University of Lleida, Spain and painting at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design. In 1997 Gretta worked independently as a copyist at the Prado in Madrid, Spain; the Louvre in Paris, France; and the British Museum in London England. Gretta has been influenced by a myriad of diverse sources ranging from the preeminent paintings of the Old Masters’ to the slick and seductive nature of print advertising and mass media publications. She has completed numerous commissions for clients throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Her work has been exhibited in Canada, United States and Europe and can be found in private collections in Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia and South America. In 2004, Ticklescratch Productions produced a half hour documentary on her life and work which was aired multiple times on Bravo TV and Gretta's artwork was featured on HGTV's Mike Holmes, Make it Right. Gretta now lives and paints in Whitby, Canada along with her husband and three children.
Where does the artwork ship from?
Originals and limited edition prints ship from my studio in Whitby, Ontario. Open edition prints are produced and shipped by my print partner in Quebec.
